The CLCA Water Management Certification Program
Certified professionals help cut water costs with high-efficiency techniques
CLCA’s Water Management Certification Program was started in 2007 and helps reduce landscape water usage by using a water audit, budget and advanced irrigation technology. The program is designed for green industry professionals like landscape contractors, landscape designers, landscape architects, HOA property managers, water agency personnel, city water conservation personnel, students in the landscape industry and anyone from the public concerned about saving landscape water. CLCA’s Water Management Certification program carries the WaterSense Label from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and is also approved for continuing education units by PLANET, Irrigation Association, International Association of Arborculture.
To become certified, participants must (three steps can be completed in any order):
- Pass written test with a score of at least 70 percent
- Complete an irrigation audit (only participation is required and covered in workshop)
- Demonstrate water management proficiency for one year on actual landscape sites

Confused about the Irrigation Audit Component Requirement?
IRRIGATION AUDITING COMPONENT is mandatory for all who took training prior to March 2010. All existing and perspective water managers must complete this requirement by May 2011. The completion of this component can be done in conjunction with any regular training, audit & test session.
